This is why we're not allowed to have kids in December or January--the months would be supersaturated with birthdays and holidays. This does not bode well for my waistline.
But I digress. Blue had a birthday!
We celebrated probably 4 times. Once with his family, once on his actual birthday, once with my family, and once to go to Tucano's (what, if you have a free birthday meal at Tucano's, you use it).
On his actual birthday we celebrated in Blue style, which means comfort. Comfort food (Cracker Barrel & cake), comfort color (blue), comfort clothes (pajamas), comfort present/activity (Star Trek movie), and that's how he likes it.
I had difficulty getting him to pose with his cake. This was the best I could manage. He's adorably stubborn like that.
I liked the dramatic contrast of this shot of Blue with one of his presents: Star Trek movies. I gave him all of the movies from The Original Series and Next Generation. Yes, I am a wife that fuels nerdy habits.
I made his birthday cake from scratch: the most delicious carrot cake ever with cream cheese frosting. We continued to enjoy it for the week following his birthday. And I'll definitely make it again.
I finally managed to get a genuine smile out of him by stealthily setting the camera on continuous shooting.
This kid will love me forever if I keep giving him Star Trek + delicious food. Hooray for good birthdays.
Sounds fun! Delicious looking cake too!
