Water & Fire

After going camping with his parents, Blue was a bit miffed that we'd never gone ourselves, especially considering the fact that we registered for and received camping equipment for our wedding over a year ago.

So we took one last trip before school started again.

We haven't figured out why our tent is hexagonal.  We did figure out that our tent is not quite waterproof.

Blue is imitating the kayaking froggie on his t-shirt.

We kissed under a waterfall.  Sometimes we're romantic like that.

We also climbed to the top of the waterfall.

And this is what my backside looked like after sliding my way down from the top.

In my own words: "Blue, make it as flattering as possible!"

These are our good friendlies that went with us.  They brought an inflatable kayak so we could play on the lake.
I need to come up with some fun nicknames for them.  I think I'll call the girl Brownies.  The guy... I want to call him Jesus, but that seems a bit disrespectful to the big men upstairs, so I'll call him... Kurlz.

I know, nicknames aren't my big talent.

Blue jumped out of the kayak.  I was terrified he was going to capsize the kayak and get me wet.  He was terrified I'd post the picture of him jumping into a lake without a PFD on Facebook.

But even if he had done that, I don't think I would have been able to resist this face.

We discovered that the fire was reflecting off of Brownies' glasses in a fun manner, so we made the most of the situation.

And what camping trip would be complete without Blue roasting marshmallows Pop Tarts over the fire?

Another fun thing I don't have photo evidence of: the drunken revelers a few campsites down were being quite loud and obnoxious as we were trying to go to bed, blasting their bass-heavy music and laughing without inhibitions.  Justice prevailed, however, when it began to rain and lightning, cutting their revelry short.  Sweet, sweet justice.  I still hope they had nasty hangovers in the morning.

So goodbye summer!  I won't miss doing research all day every day, nor will I miss the scorching hot days in our air-conditionless bedroom, but I suspect I'll be excited to see you again next year.
