This is probably better suited to Twitter, but because I don't have a Twitter account and have no desire to make one, I'm going to complain here. Because this is real life, and it's not always kicks and giggles. Also, I'm doubtful I can keep every (or any!) rant to 140 characters.
–Dear Former Mortgage Servicer,
I have a hard time believing you were "proud to have serviced [my] mortgage loan," seeing as you did it for, oh, ONE year before you sold my mortgage to a different servicer. Thanks for stressing me out and forcing me to do new, fun things like setting up an online profile at the new servicer's website, with a password at least 8 characters long containing one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character (but not "&," because that doesn't count).
[Also, we've had this loan for just over a year now, and this is the second time it's been sold to a new servicer. I feel like such a valued customer.]
–Dear Little Brown,
Why do you insist on doing everything in your power to make my life harder? You threw the couch pillows down the stairs, you refused to pick up the flash cards you scattered all over the floor, you hit your sister on the head multiple times throughout the day, you rolled around in all the laundry I was trying to sort, and you tossed diapers all around your room. There were several time outs and I admit I lost it once or twice. And yet you kill me when, on your way to bed, I told you I loved you even though you were frustrating, and you said, "I'm frustrated... Because I didn't listen." Apparently you listened to something!
[This was just a hard day with a threenager. It happens. A lot.]
–Sometimes I notice that people I used to be friends with on Facebook have unfriended me for no apparent reason. Now, in some ways I get it. People drift apart and cut ties with each other. Maybe we weren't great friends in the first place. There's no obligation to be real-life or Facebook friends. But it also bothers me. I've never unfriended anyone, even though I've thought about it (mostly because I hardly knew the "friend" in the first place). And the unfriender stayed Facebook friends with other people we know mutually, even though they aren't necessarily close friends. It makes me wonder what's wrong with me. I don't post much on Facebook, but is my life so boring, annoying, or somehow offensive that you feel the need to unfriend me? I know, the real reason probably has nothing to do with me. It still bothers me.
[And you thought I'd do all of these in passive-aggressive letter format. Fooled you, didn't I?]
–What's up with all this love of Grease? I just watched it for the first time ever (the made-for-TV live version), and though it had its entertaining moments (mostly the high-energy musical numbers), the plot was lame. Teenage angst and teenage "love" with a whole lot of sexism. Overall, I was not impressed.
–I'm not all-in on this "8th Harry Potter Book" thing. My biggest problem is that it's a script book, written for theater (the original medium for this story). It's not prose, and it won't read as magically as the original books. Also, this takes away some of the closure you got from the original series. Yeah, I'm conflicted, and so far I'm not sold.
–Let's just end this right here with no real ending. Because endings are hard.
