Thoughts from the BNSN on Pi Day

Today's post will be a bit scattered and eclectic.  Anything to keep me from writing/thinking about the ginormous paper that's due on Friday.  I mean, I'm more than halfway done, but the last push is just so hard, especially since I'm practically burned out after writing the first 12 pages... and it's only a rough draft... and it's a pass/fail class... yeah.  Motivation is scarce.

You can expect a real Pi day post to come, as I'll take any excuse to make and eat a pie.  But for now, the machinations of my inner mind:

--How in the world do you keep those tiny "no-show" socks from slipping off your feet and into your shoe?  If I don't wear them, my feet get (TMI) sweaty and cold, but if I do wear them it's really annoying having to put them back on all day.

--I want to have a meatless dinner that isn't salad, isn't soup, and isn't rice- or potato-based.  Just when I thought this was an impossible feat: breakfast food to the rescue!  Let's just say that we'll be having stuffed french toast for dinner next week.

--Classical music is the bomb.  I could study to it all day.  I wonder when was the last time a classical album won album of the year?  Somehow I doubt it has ever happened, but if they'd had Grammys in the 18th and early 19th centuries, I'm pretty sure Chopin, Mozart, and Beethoven would have a few.

--I'm just now getting on the Downton Abbey train.  After watching last night, I decided that if she were American (which she very much is NOT), I'd vote Dowager Countess for President!  Also, if Thomas had a title (heaven forbid), it would be the His Jerkiness of Jerkdom.

--High heeled shoes can make a casual outfit dressy and cute.  But how in the world can you walk in said heels all day without feeling as if WWIII has occurred in/on your feet?  If heels were comfortable and I could walk in them as easily as I can in flats/tennis shoes, I'd wear them all the time.  Since that's not going to happen... flats it is.

--The ads on Hulu haven't worked on my computer for about... 4 weeks now.  It's a miracle!  Instead of listening to a compensated family enjoy themselves at Disneyland or seeing that Ford commercial for the billionth time, I get a minute or so of silence.  (I'm half hesitant to admit this for fear the Hulu people will see it and make them work again...)

Well, I'm off to do dishes and make a pie.  Peace and love.

  1. The brand of no show socks makes a big difference. They are not all created equal. You have to find what works for you. I definitely make sure there's a rubber part on the heel to help it stay on, and then the shape can make a difference too. (The things sister missionaries learn!)
